SLM / DMLS

Metal 3D Printing Service

Laser powder bed fusion for functional metal parts: internal channels, lattices and consolidated assemblies that cannot be machined or cast economically. Printed in stainless steel, aluminium, titanium and nickel alloys — then post-processed and machined to tolerance.

Specifications

Numbers below describe what our floor actually holds. If your part exceeds them, we will say so rather than take the order and fail later.

ParameterValue
Maximum build sizeMatched to your part — we run multiple metal platforms and allocate the right machine for each order; the quote states the exact platform
Layer thickness20–60 µm
Typical tolerance±0.1 mm or ±0.3% (whichever is greater); machined fits tighter
As-built surface roughnessRa 8–12 µm; reduced by bead blasting or polishing
Minimum wall thickness0.4 mm recommended
Lead time5–8 working days including post-processing
Materials316L, 17-4PH, AlSi10Mg, Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 718

When metal printing beats machining — and when it does not

This is the conversation most suppliers avoid. We quote both routes so you can see the real numbers.

Choose SLM when

  • The part has internal channels, conformal cooling or lattice structures
  • Several parts can be consolidated into one printed body
  • Geometry is too complex or too thin for conventional tooling
  • You need a functional metal prototype before committing to tooling

Choose CNC when

  • The part is a simple rotational or prismatic shape
  • You need 10+ identical parts at the lowest cost per unit
  • Tolerances are tighter than ±0.05 mm across large surfaces
  • Surface finish has to be near-polished straight off the machine

Post-processing included

Stress relief, support removal, bead blasting, polishing, machining of bores and threads, and material certificates on request. Metal parts are never shipped straight off the build plate.

Typical applications

Robotics end effectors, heat sinks and cold plates, lightweight brackets, impellers, medical instruments, tooling inserts, and replacement parts for legacy equipment where drawings no longer exist.

Send the drawing — we will tell you if printing is the cheaper route

For simple turned parts, CNC is usually 40–70% cheaper. You will hear that from us before you place an order.
